Sometimes, being a parent can be especially challenging and unnerving at
times. If you are struggling with issues that most parents face with
their children, read on to learn more about the best ways to handle
frustrating situations with your children and get helpful tips that will
leave you feeling more in control of your situation.
Toy
When you have small children it is important to anchor all large
furniture to the wall. Shelves, dressers, and armoires all pose serious
tipping hazards. Small children can easily cause the furniture to tip
over and be trapped or seriously injured when trying to reach for a book
on a high shelf or climb up to get a toy.
When your child misbehaves or gets into something that's off-limits but
not dangerous, try redirecting his or her attention to another activity,
like playing with a toy or reading a book. Sometimes children act out
when they are bored, and sometimes they do not understand adults'
seemingly arbitrary rules about why objects are off-limits.
If you find that you need to put eye drops in a baby's eyes, it may seem
to be an impossible feat. Lay your baby on her back and set a favorite
toy on her belly so she will look down at it. Place a drop in the corner
of your baby's eye and this way when she looks up again it will gently
roll into her eye.
If you need to put an eye drop in your child's eyes, place them on their
back and lay a toy on their stomach. This will cause them to look down
and allow you the opportunity to put a drop of medicine on the inner
part of their eye. When your baby glances back up toward you, the drop
will go in without any problems.
Rotate toys often for toddlers to keep them from becoming bored or
forgetting what is at the bottom of the toy box. Toddlers typically lose
interest in a toy within a few days unless it is a beloved favorite.
Rotating other toys keeps the newness and novelty of the toys fresh for
your toddler and keeps you from constantly adding more toys to their
collection.
If you have a child devoted to sucking their thumb, you likely want to
wean them from the habit. The best way to do this is, first, to identify
the situations or feelings that encourage the child to suck his or her
thumb. Then, have a substitute - like a toy to cuddle - to offer them
when temptation arises.
If your child becomes upset while traveling in the car, try giving them
a magnetic toy to play with. Use a cookie sheet or cake pan and put a
variety of magnetic toys on it. This should keep your child entertained
even if you have to stop at a light or slow down for traffic.
Again, parenting is not easy if you are feeling frustrated and
overwhelmed. But, if you can take the information provided in this
article and then apply it to the situation at home with your own child
or children, you will be a little closer to where you would like to be
with regards to your parenting goals and objectives.
